i went to bed....but couldn't sleep...so i decided to write....
but..
i really don't have anything i specifically want to write about...
so...
just some a random thought or two...until i tire...
tonight we watched "horton hears a who"....
my favorite line from the movie was...
"it could be a bunny with cookies...but i wouldn't count on it..."
i think the line from the movie that has been discussed the most is...hortons motto..
"after all...a person is a person no matter how small..."
i guess, various pro-life groups have adopted this as a motto to support their anti-abortion stance....two things i read about this i found intersting...the first is...dr. suess' widow isn't happy about this at all....and the second is....the original book was written and published in 1954...long before any real abortion debate.....
i remember my parents bought us the dr. suess books when we were growing up...i remember....
"i do not like green eggs and ham....
i do not like them....sam i am.."
as i got older...i had to wonder what the inspiration was for the dr. suess stories...not to mention the illustrations in the books...
anyway...there really isn't a point to this...
except to say
i really enjoyed the movie...and i really enjoyed the memories it brought back...of the books...of learning to read...and of growing up....
tonights music...
i have my ipod on...and this song played...
it was released the year i graduated from high school...
1974...
and to this day...
it is still one of my favorite songs....
paul williams....dream away...
"..when the winter weds the northern wind,
the child they bear is snow...
and the brances bow like worried bridesmaids,
but the trees will grow...
sun and earth will come together,
God will give us back our summer weather...
but the memories of that first sweet taste of love
pass away so slow...
can the wise men count the pointless lies we tell,
or the price we pay...
and are songs a place to keep those words of love,
that we could not say....
when there's no room left to live inside ourselves,
do we,
dream away....."
