i'm sure i did...
i mean i remember comic books...
but i don't remember being all that crazy about comic strips...
and then as an adult..i first saw "calvin and hobbes"...
there was something about this comic strip that drew me in..
and kept me intersted...
calvin and hobbes started it's run on november 18, 1985...it was in universal syndication around the world for 10 years...sam waterson, the writer/creator...was the only person who ever drew the characters..which even then was a rarity for comic strips...he also resisted all attempts at merchendising...to this day you cannot buy a stuffed hobbes tiger...a coffee mug...or a tee shirt...there has been only one authorized calendar ever printed..
in 1995 sam waterson decided to stop drawing the strip...his final strip was on sunday morning, december 31, 1995...it pictured calvin and hobbes out in a fresh fallen snow..and all it said was..."it's a magical world hobbes ol' buddy, lets go exploring.."
i was thinking about this today..because i saw an article on comic strips...and "calvin and hobbes"...was so rare in the world of comic strips...and to this day...there has not be one as popular...and as missed...
so....

i miss calvin and hobbes...and occasionally i'll pull out the books or go online where you can still see the strips daily...just like when they were first ran...
yes...
after all these years...
their innocent and sometimes not so innocent humor...
still makes me laugh....
tonights music...
american...indian summer...
"the sand, feel the waves between your toes...
can you feel the way the old wind blows?
from one to another,
here to discover...
indian summer...
indian summer...
honeysuckle vines outside the door,
dandelion wine and so much more...
we can discover,
into each other...
indian summer...
indian summer...
indian summer...
indian summer...
night fall, fireflies light up the lawn,
pink skies mirrored on the sea at dawn...
from one to another,
here to discover...
indian summer...
indian summer...
indian summer...
indian summer....."
